Ted Adams - Commodore
My first taste of sailing was before I could even walk. My parents owned a home built wood boat that they sailed on the bay in Santos Brazil, with me in a bassinette stuffed under the foredeck. My parents always owned some sort of boat from a, converted to open, day use 33 foot lifeboat on Trinity Lake, to sailboats that my dad and I used to race and sail up and down the coast as well as class racing on the San Francisco bay.
Over the years I raced sailboats, drag race boats, drag race cars and one short stint on the Utah salt flats, and dirt track racing. In between there were always the random pleasure boats teaching my 3 children to water ski and wakeboard. I cannot be on a boat without having a good time whether working on it or playing. This has all led me to the 35 Chris Craft Commander that my wife Sherri and I own, and enjoy.
This is my second time around in three years as Commodore of the club, and this time is sure to be more relaxed than the first. I have a terrific board to work with, we at the club will have a great year.
I am a General Contractor, and have been a Superintendent on construction sites for many years, working all over the bay area and beyond. During the odd times off I have owned a body and paint shop, an engine building shop, and have worked with my Contractors license, as well as Moby’s marine, off and on during my working years.

McKenzie Smith - Vice Commodore
McKenzie Smith grew up boating on the Eagle River WI chain of 28 lakes and lived in Kenilworth IL along Lake Michigan. He is a founding member of the Chain Skimmers Water Ski Show that is still active in Eagle River WI. McKenzie and his wife Francesca moved to Ventura CA in 1984 and became active boaters there and active members of the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club. The Smith’s moved to Petaluma in 2000 and joined the Petaluma Yacht Club within the first month of living in Petaluma. Their two children Chip and Paige were members of the Petaluma Sea Scouts Ship Compass Rose. Currently the Smiths have a 15’ Boston Whaler, a 19’ Ski Nautique and a 1985 Chris Craft Commander 38’ that travels between the Delta and the Bay on a regular basis. Both McKenzie and Francesca are Staff Commodores of the Petaluma Yacht Club.
